Great news! Camel Audio is offering a Alchemy Player for free! It's a sample player based on the Alchemy engine with a ton of sounds as included is an inspiring 1GB sample library.

Camel Audio Alchemy integrates a powerful arpeggiator with the ability to import MIDI files with immediate synchronization for your track. Alchemy is marked by low CPU consumption. Before installation, make changes to the Registry by running the Alchemy Register.reg file and install the plug-in by running Setup-Alchemy-Player-Win-1-55-0.exe. When I download any Alchemy presets or samples I download it to my Desktop. It's there by itself without any other Alchemy zips on the Desktop. When I installed Alchemy I created a folder named Alchemy and put all of the files there. I installed the plugin and it grabbed everything else that was in the folder. Alchemy Player features the same advanced sample manipulation engine as its big brother, with additive, spectral, granular, sampling and VA synthesis for totally unique sounds, and is easily controlled via a simple and compact interface. This provides sixteen performance controls for real-time tweaking and automation, which have unique functions for each preset carefully chosen by the sound designer; so each preset is like a small synth in its own right.

This is a HIGHLY recommended download for your software studio! Especially good for those ambient style pads.

I've been out of the loop for a while since my iPad was stolen during a homeless stint. Alchemy was my fav synth and I just found out Camel Audio is no more. So what happened and is there any support for previous purchases from Camel?

  • Apple bought alchemy from them and it's now part of Logic Pro

Who knows what happened to the developers? Maybe they got top dollar for alchemy and have retired on an island lol

If you still own the AppleID that you used to purchase the Alchemy Mobile app and IAPs for your (regrettably) stolen iPad, you will be able to re-install it (and restore the IAPs) on a new iPad. As for any desktop Camel Audio stuff - I think there was a deadline, back in July, to download previously purchased products.

They bought not only Alchemy, the whole camel audio stuff. Maybe the camel audio team is now working for apple. Would be great for future updates of Alchemy (also for an iOS version) and i hope to see camel phat and camel space in a new version too. These tools are awesome as well. I still have camel space but it could be updated too. Also Ben Gilett (the head from camel audio) and some of the other guys (like 'zenpunkhippy') are some amazing talented people. Windows folk are maybe pissed of and i can understand that. I payed myself a bunch of money for things which came now for free to every Logic and MainStage owner! We will see....

  • I think I read somewhere, maybe on FB(so you know it's totally legit ). One of the camel guys is working at/for apple. Said a friend of his. But, that's pure speculation.

Almost worth getting refurbished Mac, and hosting (the new and better) Alchemy inside Mainstage inside Live, ffs. All in, that's about what I paid for the last Camel Alchemy. Actually no that'd be about less than half what I paid for Alchemy. I'm cool with paying that, btw: the issue is I want hands on the new one. Pretty cool to be Camel, bought by Apple.

  • Yeah Phat and Space were really great. They would make great apps.

I would think they bought the company, not the products, which would mean they got a new boss.

I think that's how it usually works, with details being how autonomous they can be.

But this can go so many ways. Fortunately, Apple has the pockets, etc, etc.

Whichever, the best of luck to them.

  • Check these likes to Discchord posts: these two about cover what has happened:

The restore link is gone I guess, but Alchemy still shows in my 'Purchased' list in the AppStore.
